Thoughts on the Dodge Charger? Dodge still crap?

Talked to some local owners of newer models. General consensus is stuff breaks and can be expensive to repair. Maybe I'll go back to Kia 😀

What models/years? Just curious.

If newer, anything broken would be fixed under warranty for free.

Thing is, the Charger is not a sports car. It's a family sedan. It competes against 4-door sedans.

The lack of Dodge reliability makes sense. Initially when I had to rent they gave me a Challenger, the guy gave it to me with the check engine light on (yeah, he wasn't bright). The car had barely broken 6k miles.

Maybe I'm confusing the door lock with windows. Maybe your buddy's window is broken. I can post a video of my windows going up and down all the way to demonstrate that the rear windows do in fact go all the way down. Jules seems to keep thinking it's designed not to go down all the way and that's just wrong.

No, I believe you that your windows go all the way down. I don't believe that there is a safety switch that prevents the windows from going all the way down though. I've just never seen that on any car ever.

Believe me, there are plenty of cars that the rear windows don't roll down all the way. It's not by design (well, technically it is) it is by limitation of the space inside the door because of the shape of the rear door and the shape of the window glass.

Maybe the earlier Chargers had the rear window that would only go down a few inches because the later ones seem to have two piece windows in the rear doors. Earlier models seem to have only one large piece of glass.

My Camry has that same split in the rear door glass as does my wife's Lexus. This is what allows it to roll down all the way.

I've never driven one in my life but I'd bet that's what the difference is.

Yup on the warranty. Two of them have RAM's. One is always in the shop for transmission stuff. But it's also the downtime they have to deal with. I'd say the first one is maybe a lemon but given my own history...meh. I just figured I'd check into it before looking too much further into it. Sounds like a nice car to lease :biggrin:

I don't think cop cars even have controls for the rear windows in the back seats. That area of the car is pretty much just a cage designed to keep you from getting out.

Window switch and door handle are present in the rear of cop charger. You can twiddle with them all you want but they won't do anything. Disconnected.

Makes sense. Probably easier to just leave the switches disconnected than to make a special panel to delete them.
