Thoughts on my new system's overclockability ?!?!?

i will have the following system up and running when my parts arrive:

1.8ghz P4m
2x512mb mushkin pc3500 2-2-2-6
abit ic7 max3 I875
550watt antec psu
geforce 4 ti4200



how far do you think i could get this cpu oc'd to ??

Well I think the chip could go to 3ghz so when the board defaults to 12x you will likely need a fsb of 250.

Sidenote I have heard many having issues with these boards and memory compatability and possibly not as high of fsb as IC7 and IS7 boards are getting....

Good luck though. 250fsb is very doable though. I would be surprised with much more the 3ghz.

just as long as it can outperform my athlon rig at like 2.1ghz then i'm happy


i noticed that that mobile cpu runs at 1.3v default so this could be fun since the i will have only the option of overvolting it

yeah 3ghz would be nice but more realistically i was thinking 2.4 to 2.8 as a "happy zone"

anything more would be great
i just want lots of memory bandwith mmmmmm

i know my memory can do 230 with 2-2-2-6 timings so that should be pretty good
