Thoughts on my "end-all-be-all" rig

Not sure what kind of price you're looking at for the A2zs wherever you'd buy it from, but if the X-Fi Xtreme Music is close in price (as it is on newegg), you might want to go with that instead.

I would swap out that sound card for an xfi fatality. If you ware getting top end parts, you might as well get a better cpu cooler. An ultra 120 or tuniq tower would work well...they arent that much more expensive than the freezer 7 pro. I own a freezer 7 pro...and stock, its not that great. I could only oc my e6600 to around 3.2, even when the fan was at full speed. The base is very rough, the fan is loud, and its just not big enough for an overclocking beast such as the conroe. If you get the ultra-120...make sure you buy a fan for it. Other than that...everything looks awsome! Best of luck

I'll second the X-Fi XtremeMusic. I had an Audigy 2 ZS in my old computer. My brother has an X-Fi XtremeMusic, and my new computer has an X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty. The X-Fi's give better sound quality, from what I can judge.

I would also suggest one of the 680i motherboards if you're planning on overclocking.

Oh, and if you do get the X-Fi, make sure you get some good speakers/headphones to match it while you're at it.

Those do well with overclocking, but so does the p5w d. Plus it comes with the totally awsome pimpness remote 😀

So, essentially, upgrade the soundcard and cooler. Otherwise, solid eh? I must be getting better at this 😉

Thanks fellas. If any of the rest of y'all have thoughts, please feel free.

love that case...wish i had seen it before i bought the p180.
Everything looks nice, I to would consider a different cooler but that's about it.

Personally if I could get anything I'd go with something like a CM Stacker, Antec Nine Hundred or P180/B, one of the many SilverStone, Lian-Li, Thermaltake or some of the NZXT cases over the gigabyte one. The heatsink either Scythe, Thermalright or Tuniq. I'd have RAID, sli'd gfx, figure out what you want to do with your optical drive http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php...37277e9b745ad7f0b64a2f1fe8604&t=135828 first and not just blindly choose NEC like a lot of places say.

The Audigy2s are out, the X-Fi's are in. I'd suggest a Thermalright Ultra-120 with a Yale Loon.

I would consider getting a different cooler, such as the Tuniq tower or Scythe infinity.

Also I've heard around these forums and other forums that the seagate 7200.10 are louder than most harddrives. The western digital WD3200KS offer equivalent performance with less sound output, i know mine are pretty quiet.
