Thoughts on motorized faceplates?

Scouzer

For some reason this doesn't strike me as safe. But a lot more convenient than a detatchable face.

Does it work as well?

It's usually fairly easy to tell a detached faceplate from one that's motorized. (Lack of a connector showing) I don't think it really deters theft.

just paying too much money for something that will break easier, not be covered in some wierd way by a "warrenty" and cost a bunch to fix most likely.
If you need a status symbol spend it on decent speakers/amps not on the hu
if u need safety get a trunk monkey 🙂

They suck (at least they used to when I had one). The faceplate motor/gearing on my Kenwood Excelon deck broke 3 times before I got rid of it.

I don't really understand how they would deter theft either. Most theives should be able to recognize that it isn't a detachable faceplate.
