Thoughts on mini USB storage

Can anyone suggest a good reason to not just get a few TB (Kingston makes them, and they aren't cheap) Flash drives to make all my backup EXTREMELY portable?

Yes... How about price and performance? I think those would be two of the most important factors to consider. The price per GB is just way too high.

Like nwo... price per GB for the larger USBs is higher than SSDs. Write performance is also lower. I'd get two 1TB 2.5" portable HDDs are it if you want it portable. I rotate both as a backup bi-yearly. Then you have 6-month archival backups.

The 1TB Seagate Backup Plus portable has been in the $55-65 range these holidays... it's primary advantage is the removable USB adapter that exposes it's SATA connectors. Fantastic!

The cheapest 1TB SSD I saw was the Crucial M500 960gb for $435 during the holidays. I can't even imagine how much a 1TB or even 512GB usb drive would be.

I saw some 1tb hard drive for black friday going for 100 dollars at best buy. I would check out their website.

Is that supposed to be a good deal? Because it's not. I would stay as far away from Best Buy as possible unless you like getting ripped off.
