Thoughts on Mazda 6?

The Mazda 6 is actually built by American Union Auto Workers in Detroit and Ford owns a good percentage of the company. How Japanese is that? It's a new car, and a lot reviews are positive. It handles well, has four doors, and is available with a V6 and manual transmission. It shows a lot of promise, but time will tell.

It's better than the Mazda 5

But when the new Mazda 7 comes out, it will 0wn it

they'd better not call it a mazda 7... it'd better be an FF (as in FB, FC, FC) and an rx-7, like they kept it with the rx-8.... and no sh!t if the new 7 comes out, it'd spank the 6... i wanna see if they're gonna go 3 rotor n/a (don't know how they'd do the intake and exhaust ports on the middle rotor tho), a larger displacement 14C engine...? or a turbocharged renesis (from what i heard, this is not the path they're going) it'd also be more expensive tho, and would seat 2 as opposed to 4, and will be geared towards a different market...
Mazda has traditionally given its rotary powered cars an RX designation. The next American-bound Mazda will be the Mazda3 which I believe will be replacing the Protege and Ford Focus. There hasn't been any word of a Mazda 7. I think deftron is just pokin' fun at Mazda's new numbering scheme.🙂

It's definitely a good alternative to the other sedans in it's class... it's not quite the BEST in it's class... but imho, it's got the best styling in it's class.
I have no clue about the build quality yet since it's such a new car... and most new cars have a few minor build quality issues to start (ie the Altima and loose interior pieces or exterior trim)

I recall there's someone on ATOT that recently purchased one though and was quite happy with the price. The interior looked fantastic too. It's got a much better chassis than the old Mazda sedans and the Duratec based V6 has good power for it's class, though definitely not the most especially with Nissan's almighty VQ and Honda's new iVTEC 240horse V6. But keep in mind that the 6 is lighter than that pork called an Accord.

BTW, I see nothing wrong with the Ford sourced V6... it's a new engine design that's been put to work in the Mondeo and Jag has reworked Ford motors to good effect. Heck, the new DOHC V8s in the Mustang and other cars work quite well.

I dunno about the Mazdaspeed version but I heard there may be plans for a AWD turbo variant for a "production concept"... this might be the Mazdaspeed version people are talk about.
