Thoughts on Kinect...?

Has anyone tried Gunstringer? It comes with the Kinect bundle (I picked one up for my brother's fiancée), and it has some pretty good reviews on Amazon. I'm replacing my downstairs 360 with a new one, and that's where my Kinect is located. So, I can't try the demo yet. For $99, I'd consider buying another Kinect for Gunstringer and Fruit Ninja Kinect (if the prior is good), and either mess around with Kinect development or sell it to a friend (with Kinect Adventures) for $50.

I finally got around to messing with my XBOX last night, and I tried out Gunstringer and Fruit Ninja.

Gunstringer was a bit frustrating for me. I don't know if I needed to reposition myself, recalibrate my Kinect or just get used to it, but it was laggy as all hell. I kept dying because the game never picked up my jump movement, and I ended up discovering that I needed to do it almost half a second to a second prior to the actual jump. The movement segments weren't too bad though.

Fruit Ninja Kinect... that game was crazy! I originally had some issues with it recognizing me, but once I fixed that (had to move up closer)... you might have thought Bruce Lee was resurrected... or that I was very thirsty as I kept shouting WATAH!

Shh it is $40 and I did not see that it comes with the code! Well, I did right after I posted that, but still!

I just grabbed a used kinect off craigslist and am enjoying it so far. I've only played kinect adventures and a few demos, but I'm liking moving around but not as much as my kids who are REALLY loving it.

I ended up getting the download codes for The Gunstringer and Fruit Ninja for $13 off eBay. Not too shabby if I say so myself. Fruit Ninja can really get to you if you get pretty crazy with the game!

When I played Dance Central 1, I thought the hardest part was essentially focusing on two things at once... the character/dancer on the left side of the screen and the upcoming move list on the right side of the screen. In some ways, while Dance Masters may not have the better song list, I think it has a superior "dance move notification method."

Although, I like Eurobeat. So, for me, Dance Masters is actually not too bad.

I hope you got a really good deal, because some vendors are still selling the Kinect bundle with 3 games for $99. If anyone is interested, Newegg is advertising it for $99 while Amazon has it for slightly more at $107.

She really likes both of them, though if she had to choose between them I think she'd take Disneyland. I'd say the appropriate age range is a bit different, about 4-6 seems good for Once Upon a Monster, whereas Disneyland should be more like 6-9. OUaM is quite simple and linear, whereas Disneyland offers you more of an "open world" experience where you explore the entire park, interact with the characters, get little quests from them, and play the games associated with various rides. I think the only reason my daughter stopped playing Disneyland after a few hours was that the was physically exhausted after flying with Peter Pan, swordfighting Captain Hook, bobsledding with goofy, snowball fighting with yetis and dancing with princesses.

Picked up a Kinect last month when Amazon was offering it with the 4GB XBOX slim for $300 - $100 Amazon credit. Sold my non-slim 20GB XBOX for $140 (kept the 120GB hard drive and transferred it to the new 4GB machine).

Got the Kinect mostly for the kids visiting from overseas this winter. The voice controls are okay; I do use them, but the interface drops off once you get into games or apps. I imagine that that will improve with time. It's something that I could live without, but it's kind of neat.

I don't care a lot for the games, but the kids are amused. They still prefer the Wii; they're use to it because they have it at home, and the Kinect games that I have on hand might be a little too advanced for kids who are less than 7 years-old.
