Thoughts on Genica GN200 ($18.95 from ComputerGeeks)?

Hello,

I'm looking for a cheap and "reasonable" ATX case. I've got the cheap part covered with the ComputerGeeks Genica GN200 for $18.95.

Does this case also meet my need for something that's reasonably solid in construction and with reasonable airflow? Also, does this case have rolled sheet metal edges?

Thanks a bunch!

That case looks like the one I used for my Father in Laws computer last year.As I recall it did have low grade construction & the air flow was lousy.Sheesh now I feel kinda bad for using that case for him.

It has worked out fine for him but as you can see the PSU is blocking a good chunk of the mobo.
the PSU is also where you would normally put your 80mm exhaust fan so cooling will be hindered.

At the time I think I paid about $40.00 for it.That said as you will find out sooner or later, your case is not something you want to go "cheap" on.I'd have to guess that shipping could run you $15.00-$20.00 dollars on that case.Which means you might be able to find a $40.00 case of better build from a local dealer. Also the 250W psu may not have enough power for some of the newer AMD chips.

Thanks for the feedback, Toro. That's basically what I was afraid of. :(

Can anyone comment on whether the internal sheet metal edges are rolled?

Yes its a hunk of doo. I dont think they were rolled as I remember cutting myself repeatedly while building 2 systems using this case. I could never get the CD-ROM centered in the bracket on the ones I built i had to shove shims between the drives to get them to where it didn't bother me. Its probably worth 19 bux tho.

Thanks, Buster. I had pretty much ruled out buying the case after reading what Toro had to say. Your "it's a hunk of doo" comment more than reinforces that decision.

It's amazing how so few words can sometimes say sooooo much! Thanks!
