the cable i have is this:

http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Stereo-M.../dp/B0002KR1OG

only difference is that my rca jack on the end, is a single, not a double connector

That cable is not correct because on-board sound cards have jack sensing, so it will output analog audio for subwoofer and center channel. Get the adapter that I suggested earlier. You will then need 75-ohm cable with RCA plugs.

Every company has it's own way of shaving costs.
I wonder why. Is it because everybody prefers cheap, cheap, cheap. It shows everywhere that people care to buy cheap instead of invest their time and money to buy quality products. Buying cheap hurts people more than it hurts the wallet.

it knows when i put it in the orange or black jack. it gives me the ability to set it on the pc, but i never get audio out of it. even when i set it as the default output device, it still doesnt play audio.

i know its not a pc setup issue because if i use one of the inputs on the front of the receiver (aux left or right) i get sound out of one side of my speakers.
