Although the game does have its fair share of bugs, like other mentioned it is an older build. Plus, for me its just fun to play. The graphics are nothing amazing, but I still have a great time playing. I'll most likely be buying this one.
The graphics are nice. I guess it is hard to put together a war game that encompasses air, ground, water, troups all in one. That's whay the gameplay isn't as solid as other games. But it's new and it's fun. Hopefully patches will fix the inconveniences.
what if your plane crashes REALLY far from the shore? as far as i know there isnt a suicide command, so it would be kind of a pain having to swim all the way to shore
actually there is a suicide command, right to the left of the "spawn here" button or whatever it says on the spawn selection screen. anyone wanna play right now? is a server up for AT'ers?
Like Lucky said there is a suicide command... hit esc it's in the bottom center of the screen under the map.
You can also try to swim to shore... it's slow but if you don't drown you'll adventually get there.
You can also have a 2 seater plane fly low and you can climb in to that... I havn't seen anybody other than myself do this though heh.
You can also have a landing craft come pick you up if they're near bye.
What will most likely happen is you'll swim and swim and swim and then 10ft away from shore as you see the water getting shallow you'll drown. I've done that about 5 times lol.
Any chance you can set up a server again for tonight? I can change the title to reflect game on for tonight.
the "solidness" of the game is not bad. It sure hell is better than C&C Renegade, talk about a bad game!!! I think the most solid feeling ones are UT and Ghost Recon. For some reason Q3 doesn't feel to solid to me. I'd say its about even with the feeling of ROTCW and MOHAA.
I think the graphics are pretty awesome. I mean this is just the demo, the real game should be even more detailed. I really like how the trees look, a lot better than most. I get great frames with a Gef Ti4400 and AThlon 2000+, i can do 4X FSAA and hold around 80fps

Uh? they (EA) are fixing a lot of things. Just check out the EA forums and you?ll see what I?m talking about. You?ll also find many more negative comments about the game.
Supposedly EA release a similar type of game a while back, and that game flopped. According to some EA insiders (posting at the forums), B1942 is experiencing the same attributes.
This game is scheduled to be released in September, is should have gone Gold already. But I don?t think EA will release this game just yet, I think from all the comments on EA?s forums, unless they want another dead title on their hands, they have some work to be completed first.
The biggest complaint I?ve been hearing is the shooting (and no, it?s not bad aiming). It?s a problem that EA has been faced with since that game I mentioned earlier (projectile problems). People have stated you need a sub -100 ping to get better accuracy! Now that is just sad if true. I have yet to find a server that will do anything less then 100. I find a lot doing 150-200.
Most of the kills being had are from the air, dropping bombs on the enemy. I have yet to see anyone, land only, and have more then 20 kills. Not unless they are running over people with the vehicles (like the Jeep, which a lot of people are starting to do because they can't shoot sh!t point blank!)
If they fix these things this game will be GOTY!

I can't wait for new maps, vehicles, and weapons. This game has a lot of potential but, EA really needs to fix the aiming problem and the game will be the best of it's kind.
I think I already like it as much as DOD. Which is saying alot coming outta my mouth because I've had DOD forever and love it.....

If the screen goes back and pops you back to the desktop, I would wager you used a util to tweak XP's refresh rate. Set it back to 60Hz.

you snipers have to realize that sniping can practically ruin the game
TFC: In 2fort, most of the n00bs/non clanner go sniper. It affects the rest of us (offense) significantly. Theres nothing worse then stepping out into the open, getting shot, waiting to respawn, and getting shot again. Given a sniper with a decent skillset, he'll be hitting you mid-air while you're conced (no not by h4xing). And even if you do make it up to the upper battlements by concing/rjumping, most snipers will CHASE you!
Snipers ruin the concept of CTF. They prevent the offense from encountering the defense. This is why most servers limit snipers to 3 or 2. And also why snipers are RARELY played in matches.
DOD: Back in the 1.x days, even a n00b sniper can hold back practically the entire offensive team. Fortunately, they fixed this in 2.0.

I love to snipe in this game. I prefer it over any other kit in there. And I have no problem that you have to pretty much be prone, hold the gun steady for at least a second, and not shoot at a moving target. But if I score a torso or head shot, it should be a one-shot kill. I don't have a chance at a second shot unless the target is an idiot. Now a leg or arm shot should not kill the person.
Concerning the game in general:
1. The aiming sucks. I generally get <30 ping rates on the EA servers. But I have multiple times emptied a full assault guns clip into a person at near range, only to have them turn around and shoot two rounds and kill me.
2. Feedback with shooting is horrible.
3. I don't experience too many problems with lag (Network problems message), but my PC tends to lag a lot. See my WinXP machine in my sig for specs. I tried running the game at 1024x768x32 and had problems with graphics lag. Dropped it down to 800x600x32 and still had problems. It gets really bad after I've been playing for a while, which probably means a memory leak somewhere.
4. The EA servers ALL seem to crash at the same time. Its probably a hardware problem though since they all seem to go down at the same time.
5. The TK'ers, the idiots, and the total lack of strategy on the players parts make it annoying. But hopefully I can find a good clan server or someone here can set up a more permanent server to play on that gets more players.

Did you guys see the B-17 Flying Fortress, and P-51 Mustang, Spitfire etc?? I would love to fly the B-17 into battle and blow the hell out of the enemies base! Operating the submarine will also be something!
