Found some more instructions at Vortex ring launcher

I improved my design a little by using the soup tub lid to seal off the plastic bag. Now I can feel the blast and a plant will wiggle at 6ft away, but I don't think that I could blow out a candle.

Patchy, how far in does your plastic bag sink into the carton? Right now mine is set to about 3/4". I am going to play with this variable before changing the hole size.

I was at the mall once...in some store..and I couldn't figure out why I kept feeling these big puff's of air on me...then I look around and some dood who works there was laughing at me. So I ask him what's going on..and he shows me that airzooka thing. Pretty cool..but ehh....i did not appreciate being "shot" at. Heh...

Family history tells me these toys have been around since at least the fifties which isn't surprising since you can shoot an air rifle without a pellet and get a similar effect and that idea's real old.

Just be sure that you're not dry firing (no pellet) a spring piston air gun, cuz that's a quick way to destroy it. And i don't think the blast from an air gun could be felt with much force from 20+ feet away. This is a little different as it creates a swirling donut vortex of air that retains alot of enery as it travels across a room.

MonkeyK, My diaphram sinks in a good 1.5". So the total volume of air is greater with mine. Try increasing it.
That's a good site, but doesn't go too much detail about dimensions and stuff.

Anyhoo, I made my full size Airzooka, and man is this thing strong. It seems everybit as powerful as the real deal (judging from the videos found here). I shot out a candle at about 20 feet, and think i can go farther. But I have no handle for now, so it's a pain to hold.

They don't have good specs on dimensions, but the suggestions for smoke is excellent. Should help to "tune" the zooka!

IDIOTS! trying to blow out a candle from across the room....

I'd think you guys would be more creative than that... fill the Airzooka with some super-flammable vapor and go for the opposite effect with the lit candle across the room :D :D

it sends a pulse wave, not actual air from what i've read.

Apparently something can travel on that wave, since smoke ring guns operate on the same principle.
