Found today at Microcenter. Damn that's tempting! I only game at 1200p so I really don't need more than my 290x for now but jeesh..

Bonus pic I found in the same store. Maybe I'll go back and scoop that 980ti up to run this game at a fluid 60fps 😛

Thank you, 480, for driving down prices.

$380 is about right given the performance of other stuff out there.

I need an Anandtech forum Microcenter dealer willing to do my buying there. The 9-10 hour drive isn't worth it for me. If I saw that deal, I would have bought that instead of buying an overpriced GTX 1070.

Your 290X has a good resale value. I would buy the 980 ti because it is a good deal. There are many games at 1200p where a 290X is starting to show its age.

Just FYI, Newegg is clearing out 980 Ti models as low as $400, shipped free, no tax in most states. That's going to be equal to a $370 model with tax at MC.

These are great deals. What it has to do with is the GTX 1070, not the 1080, and most definitely not anything AMD has.

Yeah I agree with this definitely, problem is I just don't play any of them. I think my next game that may warrant a GP102 or Vega is going to be the new Battlefield.

newegg was selling zotac AIB 980 ti for 350$ after 30$ rebate. that is pretty good for anyone in the market for one.

If it were the 1070, wouldn't the price have dropped three weeks ago when the 1070 was released?

The 1070 comes in at the same performance tier as 980 Ti but is a better architecture, has 8GB vs 6GB vRAM, uses significantly less power, and is not going to depreciate in value as fast as 980 Ti.

The 1070 (and to a lesser extent, 1080) is the reason why the 980 Ti is on clearance.

It did. It's been dropping in price $50 a week since early June.

You can thank the RX 480 for GTX 970 cards selling for $220AR.

Agree. Given NVs track record on older uArchs and Maxwell uArch performance (or lack thereof) in dx12 that 980 Ti will in a year look pretty bad with the 1070.
it is still 50$ to 75$ cheaper than 1070. 980 ti with 20% oc is better than 1070 right now. 980 ti will probably still be even with 1070 after 1 year without nv support.

new AIB 980 ti is 350$

used ones would be 300 or lower. if you can get a used one, still a pretty decent deal if you are in the market for one.
