Here are my final specs for a new rig, comments./suggestions welcomed.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo processor E8400, 3.00GHz, 6MB L2 Cache -

All in all that looks ok, if you are willing to spend a little more money, I would suggest the Q6600 CPU, it is 'slower' but has twice as many cores, so it balances out, and ends up probably being in the Q6600s favor in the long run. The vid card looks alright, what are you planning on doing with the system?

some gaming, video conversion, graphic work, watch tv/movies on it, visit this board, etc.

IF you are doing video conversion and what not, see if the software that you use utilizes multi-core. If it does, then get the Quad Core, you will see huge performance gains.
