There is a thread on this in Software already. Seems like it was due to the big wind storm we had last night.

The whole site is very slow, I just managed to connect to what looked like the forums page after a minute. Did another refresh and it's timing out.
Yeah, I would play HL2 and CSS more often if I didn't have to wait for Steam to update first before I play.
lol, are the steam servers on the west coast or something? 80+mph winds have cause a lot of power outages around here and my cable was out until a few hours ago. When I got internet back, I find steam doesn't work.

Yeah, sorry. I might have taken it out a little too harshly. The point is, people shouldn't be thinking about not being able to play their games for a few days and pray (or whatever it is they do) for the people caught in the storms.
