What about all the poor people that mightve come from socket 939 or 478 or socket A? Do those people not matter because theyre so behind the times?

you should have put an option for "no need to upgrade" & "waiting to see what bulldozer will offer".

People still use 939 and 478? Really? I didn't include them because no one cares about those old sockets. If your that behind the times god help you.

Knew people were going to nit pick about every little detail when I posted this thread. Don't like what I have in the poll? Too bad :)

I know someone on a P4 2.8, and I use a P4 2.4 at a friend's house (my spare web machine). Then again, I'm not upgrading to SB, so I suppose that poll doesn't apply to me. I'm waiting to see what BD has to offer.

I haven't yet, but my plan is to go from my 775 C2D to SB i5 in a couple of months.

I hope bulldozer isn't all hype. Would be pretty awesome seeing an 8 core processor for cheap that performs very well

Couldn't stand it any more. Ordered a Asus PRO and a 2600K with 8 gigs of Corsair Vengence 1600 today.

q9550

but I was wanting to do a build anyways, and the q9550 isa going to do HTPC/3d gaming duty.

there was no point to go 1156 or 775 with another build

Actually shocked by all the 775 owners who posted in the poll. God damn

Upgraded from a 775 Q6600. I figured that all the 775 owners that have been sitting on their hands during all the i7 920 action would finally bust out for this Sandybridge party. It's still not that compelling to go from a Quad core to a Quad core but geeesh I could only sit on my hands for so long! I kind of feel like the SB is just an enhanced/fine tuned i7 920, still 4 cores and 8 threads but it works for me!!

My SB rig should arrive in the next few days, and I'm sure I'll see a noticeable improvement overall.

as I thought, 1156/1366 users don't really get much from a SB upgrade for the money they had to dish out. To be truthful I think a decent 775 quad running 3,6+ or a AM3 quad running 3,6+ can probably hold out a bit until 2nd gen BD or Ivy Bridge to upgrade. On a personal note, I'd say if you are on a quad, the next upgrade that makes sense is probably a 6 or 8 core. quad->quad just don't feel like a real upgrade esp. if you have to get new board or even memory. But of course if you need the extra performance now, there's no point waiting.

I foresee IB 6 cores for 1155 and that will be my next upgrade. I have no use for quad channel memory especially with the numbers i'm putting out.
