You do understand that a "portable" air conditioner that is on wheels will actually HEAT a room rather than cool it, RIGHT?

No, it won't. All portable ACs require you to vent to the outside with a duct hose; most come with adapters for windows so you can install it without too much trouble.

The analog thermostats on my old window AC units aren't all that accurate. The temperature can fluctuate anywhere from 75 to 67.

I keep it at 68 all the time.

I have chinchillas and you really don't want the house warmer than that for their health. I'm comfortable, and the wife is as well. Luckily I have a wife that likes the cold compared to women I've been with in the past. Which reminds me of my office. It is constant battles over the thermostat. The women around here keep trying to set it to 85 and the guys set it to 72. One girl wears a turtle neck, has a space heater, and uses a blanket while in 90+ degree weather I shit you not. I have effing idea what her bodies problem is with regulating her temp, but pisses me off as she is the main culprit that always sets the temp on the thermostat to 85. Most of the other women only go as high as 78. I'm literally drenched in sweat at 80+ degrees in the office if it goes on for too long at that temp.

AC mostly removes humidity so all that matters is that it runs for a bit.

I can see how in 102 dry heat 79 is comfortable and in 90 humid 75 still feels warm. It'll barely come on to drop it 15 degrees so it'll still be humid inside.
