Step ups are only available in the USA right? How does that work anyway? You pay extra for a step up option and if it never happens it was a gamble?

It was stated in the terms and conditions of the Step-Up program. And no, you don't pay extra for the EVGA cards, at least, not that that I know of. The Step-Up program is part of their standard warranty, hence the reason a lot of people end up buying them.

I was simply saying that EVGA's cards aren't more expensive than any other manufacturer's.

Yes, you have to pay for the step-up, but only after you send in your invoice, you may cancel at any time. You pay the difference between the price that was on your invoice and that of the new card.

For example: You buy an EVGA 7950GX2 at Newegg for about $450 within the last 90 days.

Through the Step-up program, you order a $650 8800GTX through EVGA. You then pay EVGA $200 + shipping + whatever it costs to ship your old card back to them.

They can also reduce the value of your trade-in based on whether or not you send in the complete retail package or not.

Probably redundant question but will eVGA let you step up from a GTS to a GTX in the 90 days? I would like to save the cash and go with the GTS but it is quite a step down perf. wise from the GTX. I would like to be able to step up to the GTX if I find myself not really happy with the GTS performance.

I thought evga gave you the msrp value of the card. For example the msrp of the 7900gto is $300, and the msrp of the 8800gts is $500, so it would only cost you $200+random charges. If they only give you the value that you paid for is, $240 on newegg, but they make you buy the next card at MSRP, that is total crap. If they charge you the msrp value for the new card you should get the msrp of the old card.

I realize its still a discount, which is def nice, just seems kinda lame is that respect.

Yes as long as the GTS was not a step up.

You cannot step up from an already stepped up card. (confusing isn't it?)

What you do (i think, at least it's what I did) was e-mail evga a copy of the newegg invoice.
