currently i average about $8 a day every time i go out for lunch. i wish my average was around $3. anyways, i've decided to start to bring my lunch to save money. i need simple ideas of what to bring. so far i've thought of tuna sandwiches and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. what else simple is there to eat for lunch? i'm going to need more variety if i intend to stick to bringing my lunch

I hit Sam's club and got the Star Kist tuna salad kits ...less than $1 each. Cheap and healthy meal.

Then there's the Chef Boyardee 8 pk variety (Beefaroni, Lasagna, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Mini Ravioli) for less than $6 (so about $.75 each). The portions are small, but I'm trying to cut down on the junk food anyway.

Add a sandwich and/or salad to one of the above and you're g2g.

Generally I don't eat much for lunch. The workplace ruins my appetite.

$8 a day for lunch? Good lord man. Value meals are your friend! $2-$3 at Wendy's or Taco Bell can give you a small feast. I love getting a cup of small chili at Wendy's then taking a 5 piece chicken nugget meal and cutting it up and putting it on their small ceaser side salad.

I RARELY spend more than $3.15'ish on a lunch.

Instead of getting Quiznos, get all the ingredients at the grocery store and throw it in a toaster oven. Save $9 right there. Instead of buying a bag of chips, I started bagging up my own Wheat Thins and Chex Mix.

Leftovers
Sandwich, chips, yoghurt
Fruit, cheese, crackers
Red beans & rice w/ smoked sausage & cornbread
Salad & dressing

It helps if you have access to refrig & microwave.

I cook, so make some healthy meals with fresh ingredients the night before and it usually lasts 3-4 meals. I pack 2 servings in gladware and keep it in the fridge which I grab and take with me in the morning and keep in the office fridge.

I prefer not eating out, whether its cheap or saves time because its generally not healthy. I usually really stretch my dollar while eating excellent quality meals that dont make me feel guilty for eating crappy when I go to the gym

but then theres the effort in cooking which I enjoy, but others may not.

At the market I work for they also make tacos. So I get 5 tacos, rice, and beans for $5. Either I eat at work or I go out to the local taquerias and spend about $7.

When I was working and bringing my lunch.. I would always bring a sandwitch(pb/j, tuna, cheese), a yogurt, 4 pieces of fruit, and I would always have a bag of trail mix to munch on.

That's when I was on the healthy food craze.
