I'm dangerously close to getting a 37" LCD or similar plasma. I want to mount it on the wall, as our living room isn't that big.

I have two young chillun's. 5 and 1 1/2. I'd need more than just an open rack system for my 360, DVD player, VCR, etc. What are good alternatives? I'm not super keen on all the wires running up the wall either.

My wife also thinks it'll look hokey to have the components sticking out further than the tv, but I'm not sure that can be avoided ;)

Do you have a closet nearby? That's what I do, and it kicks ass. Looks great, and keeps the little kids away.

I'm planning to install one in the next week or two. My laundry room is behind the wall, so I'm planning to cut a small hole behind the TV and run the wires through there. Setup the cable box, DVD player, and extra hookups on a shelf in there.

Anyone recommend a good RF remote relay? I've heard the pyramids from X10 work pretty good and I don't mind having that sit on the mantle next to the set. Just checking to see if anyone else had recommendations or feedback on the one I was looking at.

I'd just use a Harmony 890/1000 with the RF extender, as that's what I do and it works great, but there's various IR repeaters out there that work very well.

I'd do that if it was my main setup, but it's just the formal living room on the main level and will be pretty much just be a cable box and DVD player. I'm not even installing surround sound till the fall or winter. Dropping the $2 or $300 on the 890 just isn't in my budget at the moment.

$1000 plus professional programming, which is around $300. They can be found on eBay for around $600, but URC does not provide software or software updates to any DIY installer, only licensed ones, so it's basically required to have it professionally installed.

this...

EDIT: It looks much better than the picture and feels quite solid too (135lbs!). But best of all, it perfectly complements the rest of my furniture. I got a 10% discount on it too... I got it to save my components from my 2 yr old and the black screens allow me to use mismatched components too.

EDIT 2: Mixed up another poster's comments for the OPs...

That's not a bad idea athiti. I'll take a gander at those if and when I spring for a TV.

I can vouch for him. That stand looks INCREDIBLE for the price in person.

We have this unit from IKEA. Right now the plasma is sitting on top of the cabinet, but we'll likely look for another storage solution when we mount the plasma on the wall.
