Those of you with dual monitors

My sound driver configuration window was on my secondary monitor, but then I lent my monitor to a friend who broke his. Now my sound settings got screwed up somehow and I can't get to the configuration window because it pops up on the nonexistant monitor, even though I have my display settings set to single monitor mode...is there anyway around it, or do I have to get my monitor back to do this?

If you have your display settings set to single display mode, then it isn't displaying on any secondary monitor. The window position may be set to something greater than your current resolution. Try maxing out your screen size. You may also be able to just reset the window position by deleting the entries in the registry (which is where positions are "remembered".)

Another cheap trick is to use the "Move" window command. If the focus is on the window you want, hit Alt, space, M for move, then the arrow keys will let you move the window until you hit enter. However not every dialog box allows that so it may not work.

That was going to be my answer. Also, could you switch which "monitor" gets which display, then move the sound thingie halfway over the edge so you could switch again and grab that half on the main display?

Windows has to detect that there is a second monitor connected before it will let you actually enable the other display. Even on my laptop, which always shows a second "display" it won't let that be enabled unless there is a monitor attached.

Another option might be to turn on "virtual desktop" in your display drivers, if you're using a driver that supports such a thing. This might allow you to simply scroll over to where the window is appearing.

Usually when you disable a secondary display, window positions are automatically reset, so I'm at a loss why this one would still be displaying anywhere but the default position. The only thing I can think of is that it reset to appear in like, the last visible pixel once the previous location became unavailable.

once you're sure the config window has focus hit alt+space to pop up the control menu, then 'm' to select move and then (without clicking your mouse) use the arrow keys to move it on screen

This works if your drivers support it. I know the ATI control center allows you to set it up, I assume Nvidia's drivers do as well.
