Those of you with an Athlon KT133 boards ...

I am seriously considering dropping some money on an Athlon system right now (can't wait any longer). However, the DDR boards sound interesting (but when will I be able to get one and when will they be stable ...) So I am considerring a motherboard that has that new KT133A chipset in it. According to the review on this site, it supports the 133FSB of the newer Athlons (need 266 mhz bus f/ upgrade to DDR later on). But, I can't seem to find any boards with this chipset in it. So next I move back to the KT133 chipset. Before I go ahead with buying one, I want to know from anyone who has it, wheter it can reach 133FSB so I can buy a newer Athlon (266mhz ... ). So can it reach that high? If so, what boards work?

I Have a kt133 based board, got it just yesterday too! Sy-k7vta with Duron 800 and this thing is rock solid stable. The Whole upgrade was $250 for mobo and cpu but i already had the ram. My Mobo is Great but There are lots of other boards to look at too. Comp USA has this board for $150.

yea, but can you push yours fsb up to 133 mhz? Is that an option in the bios?

The FSB can run at 133mhz but Im on 100mhz ram i took out of my older k6-2 mobo so im at 100mhz Front Side bus but I play CS at 1280x960x32 and the Frame rate never goes under 50. Smooth as silk!

KT133's can't get much past 110 FSB

The limit to the KT133 chipset is around 110 mhz for FSB , some get a touch more some less.
I get 113 mhz as a FSb for my board Abit k7t-raid.

You can run your ram at 133mhz and beyond but that also depends on the type of ram you have or get. Usually good quality ram will run at a higher than stated spec.

My factory unlocked Duron 650 is at just over 900 with 112 fsb for the components, and the CPU bus is 112 + 1 (113)
stable too.
