what's the deal with this guy? in one of the commercials he goes, "like i always said, if you can find a better car, buy it"

first of all, i've never seen this clown before in my life, so when was he around making statements like this? 1950?

second of all, ah never mind, need to lay down...

Lee Iococa, CEO of chrysler.........................

I didn't realize he was still there. I thought he'd retired already.

Anyway, he was huge in the 80's. Practically saved Chrysler from going belly up with things like the K car and minivans... Also responsible for the Mustang as was previously stated.

Go lay down.

Interesting:

Return to Chrysler
In July 2005, Iacocca returned to the airwaves as Chrysler's pitchman, along with stars such as Jason Alexander and Snoop Dogg, to promote Chrysler's Employee Pricing Plus program; the ads reprise the "If you can find a better car, buy it" line that was Iacocca's trademark in the 1980s. Other ads featured Iacocca with his granddaughter. In return for his services, Iacocca and DaimlerChrysler agreed that his fees plus a $1 donation per vehicle sold from July 1 through December 31, 2005, would be donated to the Iacocca Foundation for diabetes research.

Wow. I always knew he was a great guy, but that's outstanding. Props to Lee!

They must be catering to the older crowd, because I'm sure no one born after 1985 even knows that tagline, let alone who he is.

That could be what their intentions are. Chrysler is an older person's brand IMO.

You're kidding.

the OP is why the ad campaign sucks. Chrysler wants their cars to be relevant but no one in their target market knows who Lee Iacoca is or has ever heard of that tag line.

Then there is Snoop in the commercial too so you might say that they are targetting both old and young with the commercials.
