How is madden for football games? I dropped their whole sports franchise after seeing how pathetically they programmed the AI in Fifa...2kx. All of them, no different than the last, the same old AI player gets up next to you and the CPU keeps rolling a die until his stick actually takes the ball from you. On top of that, not being able to set up runs with anywhere near the complexity that we did in HS varsity soccer...each year it's some new function they use the right joystick for, yet it's marketed as the second coming of soccer games but, like usual, always sucks etc...
so after the bad taste of 2 fifa games in my mouth I haven't bought any EA games since. They butchered any respect I had for them for creating sports games.
Maybe it's different with football games.
I don't know what consoles you own, but Madden 08 for PS3 is fun to play. I'm in my 3rd season in franchise mode... have had the game for months. On top of that apparently it runs smoother on 360.
At the very least I would rent it; between franchise mode and online play there is plenty to do and I feel the gameplay is well balanced.
