the new ones have differnt dye, dont know if its better or worse, but i have always had bad expireince with green dyes. here is the atip info.

Any feedback from more knowledgeable people would be great. I just hope i didnt waste 45 bux on some bad cdrs, assuming i wont get the rebate🙁.
 
The OD CD-Rs with the green dye is probably the worst CD-r that I have dealt with. Here's a test that I use to quickly judge the quality of a CD-r, though it is by no means a guarentee that they are good, just bad. Hold a CD-R up the light, if you can see through it (i.e. the label on the other side), then let it go.

phisicically they are neerly the same, the only difference is that the little symbol in front of each label line(contents, title, etc) is a black triangle not a clear dot. and also the old ones were blue
 
If you get your rebate back, and you can sell them on a certain popular auction site, then the deal is hot. 🙂
 
"Assumed Dye type: Phthalocyanine (Type 9)" is the good dye, no matter what color the plastic is. I'd take these in green, over "Assumed Dye type: Cyanine (Type 2)" in silver/clear...hypothetically.

These are the type with the Prime Peripherals label on the top, not the blank ones...but they are CMC. Sure seems like there are many different manufacturers throughout the country...

Man, I've never seen such an anal group of people. These are Cheap CD-R's, and they work fine if you have a good burner and keep current on your firmware. My Iomega 12x (Plextor) has no problem with them. You should not get them if you are worried about quality... get some better brand.

Read this, you shouldn't trust that ATIP Info that is on the disc -- my Prime Peripherals discs are almost identical in appearance to some PNY 80min CD-R's I have.... they have the same black and silver on top, and the same "silver with very slight green tint" on the bottom.
 
My concern is not with them burning or not (though it is also important), but rather my data will evaporate off of it overtime.
