Am I the only one who has zero interest in movies made after comic books or cartoons? i.e. Spiderman, Hulk, Ironman, Thor, etc?

I have yet to see a well made Marvel film, and that more than likely won't change with Thor.

You did not think spider-man, ghost rider and iron man 1 were well made?

Over the past few years several things have changed:

1 - Marvel took control of their movie production. This will ensure that companies like Sony do not ruin things. Look at what happened with professor X getting killed off in the last X-men movie.

2 - Disney bought Marvel. Hopefully Disney will make sure the new movies are made to a certain level of quality.

Not really. Only in this forum.

Right that's totally why The Dark Night and Spider Man (and it's sequels) had mediocre box office success. Oh and Iron Man and it's sequel for that matter.

That success isn't built entirely off of fanboys and geeks. They are just fun/entertaining movies that appeal to a wide range of people.

Dont know if serious?

From wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Knight_%28film)

The Dark Knight grossed $67,165,092 on its opening day in the domestic office, setting a new record that stood until The Twilight Saga: New Moon was released.

The dark knight and spiderman were anything but mediocre successes.

First GREAT movie? That remains to be seen, but I certainly hope it's a winner...and I REALLY hope they do a better job with this comic book than they've done with Spiderman.

Spiderman 1 and 2 are some of the best comic book movies ever, you just have to pretend 3 never happened, just like the StarWars prequels.

Disney makes amazing movies. More respect for them than any other house out there.

What?!?!?! You have Superman 3 above a long list of much better films. Ghostrider at bottom is fine, but Superman 3 pretty much sucked.

Fair point, thinking about it I could move it below the three in bold. That is all.

Edit: I've fixed the list. You sir, made a good point.

Is it wrong that the only reason I know that Thor is a comic book hero comes from my multiple, repeat viewings of 'Adventures in Babysitting'?

Eh. Really is Batman any different than Ironman? They are both incredibly rich guys who are made "superheroes" by product of their creations.

A good point, and something I had considered, but based on the film version of Iron Man, the suit is an integral part of himself, he is one with it, unlike War Machine. Thus meaning that the suits abilities are an extension of the man.

as of 4/29, it has 94% at RT with 47 reviews (only 3 negative overall - both top critics that reviewed it liked it)

I never read the comic book much, but it looks like this might be an awesome movie. This has to be the first summer movie season in several years that I'm pretty excited about, and I think Thor might just be the movie to kick it off right. The trailer looked pretty good... opens next Friday

Don't get thrown by the TomatoMeter. Look closer.

93% Fresh
Average Rating: 6.8/10
Reviews Counted: 58
Fresh: 54 | Rotten: 4

Avg 6.8/10. All that means is that the majority of critics thought it was fairly decent. RT is usually misleading because if 100% of critics said, "Eh, see it, it's ok. 6/10" the RT meter would be 100%. But if 80% of critics gave a movie 10/10 and 20% gave it 5/10 it would "only" be 80% fresh. Metacritic is a better metric.

Anyway I tend to go see flicks like this b/c usually the best reason to see it is the special effects on a big screen, so renting and watching it at home is a much poorer experience. So I'll probably see it. But don't expect awesome or you'll probably be let down.

I agree with Daredevil and Ghost Rider at the bottom, but you gotta get Batman on that list. Also, if I remember correctly... wasn't Superman Returns terrible? Was that the one from a few years back that they already scrapped or am I getting the titles mixed up?
