Hmm, if these rights existed prior to these documents, then it stands to reason that they are documented somewhere. Anyone got proof of their prior existance?

To those who think this is a ringing endorsement of Christianity, please read The Jefferson Bible.

In it, he removes the entire old testament, and all post apostle letters. There is no Paul, and all mention of Christ's divinity and miracles are removed. Jefferson obviously doubted the divinity of Christ. He was, in effect, a Deist.

Thats right. The founding fathers ruled! The believed and worshiped God. So should you.

Why should I base my religion or beliefs on what someone else believed?

Thomas Paine was practically an agnostic. Does that mean you should be too?

AmusedOne: Check the sig. It's well explained. 😉

And yes, I agree with your opinion and uphold your right to be an individual, rather than a moral clone of your "founding father."

Heck, I'm not a deist. TJ was a screwball who accepted the miracle of Creation while rejecting all other forms of miracles. But he did do some good things, and I give him credit for those.

I see, so anyone who's religious beliefs differ from yours is a "screwball?"

Is it any wonder WHY government should remain religiously neutral?

screwball indeed.

He never said that, and just because he was a screwball doesn't mean he wasn't a genius. 😛

No, not everyone who disagrees with me philosophically is a screwball. Furthermore, I have utmost respect for some screwballs. Like Immanuel Kant, for example. And I know a lot of athiests who aren't screwballs as well.

And I agree with you that the government should be religiously neutral.

Thomas Jefferson ruled, but he certainly did NOT worship the Xian God:

"The Christian god is a three headed monster, cruel, vengeful, and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites."

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."

"Christianity...(has become) the most perverted system that ever shone on man. ...Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and importers led by Paul, the first great corrupter of the teaching of Jesus."
