press the <alt> button and hold it
on the keypad (or whatever) type out "032" then let up off of the <alt> key

voila. a space.

Now, you can make things like faces with other alt characters... <alt>13 is that music note like I did above. &#9834;&#9834;&#9834;
<alt>0222 is a mouth with a tongue... :-&THORN;

see? Every possible character that your computer can display with the keyboard has an <alt># shortcut. You just gotta find them.
