This woman driver just pisses me off

We take the same route every morning around the same time. I've been stuck behind her a few times and it's just infuriating. Here's what she does when I can't pass her up:

1. never drives the speed limit, always aleast 5 below
2. slow starting from light, 18 wheelers are keeping up with her
3. always keeps 5-6 car lengths gap in front. if gap shortens even by one car length she slows down to increase gap.
4. begins hypermiling a mile away from a red light

I've seen numerous drivers flash their headlights and even some that cut her off so it isn't just me who is getting frustrated. She impedes traffic flow and unsafe for other drivers. I've always wonder how these type of drivers pick up these driving habits.

i think you answered your own question. a quick google search on hypermiling gave 295,000 pages with a lot being news articles. thanks, USATODAY!

hey.. i do some hypermilling techniques, like just even accelerating when i see a red light up ahead. what is the point of using gas when there's a red light up ahead?

Calm the fuck down. You'll save what...all of a few seconds if you get by her? Chances are she'll just catch up to you at the next light anyway. You aren't going to get anywhere any quicker if she lets you by so just deal with it.

In short, slow the hell down. Michael Schumacher you ain't and this isn't the Grand Prix of Monaco.

I rate this rant 0/10.

I take it easy on my morning commute. What's there to get in a rush about? I leave my house in plenty of time to have a relaxing drive to work, stress free. I see some people coming in the office who look ready to kill someone - the must have had a stressful drive to work. Here's a tip, slow down!

1.) Keeping a safe following distance is the law in pretty much every state.

2.) Jack-rabbit starts from red lights is a great way to suck down gas.

3.) Nothing wrong with driving below the speed limit. It's called a "limit" for a reason.

4.) I laugh at people who accelerate toward red lights. I mean really, how dumb can you be?

This is real simple...she wants you..she wants you behind her.. ask her out? play chittychitty bang bang in her back yard?

Here's my whole view of the situation, because I deal with this all the time as well.

First, only law enforcement officers have any business whatsoever telling me how to drive. The rest of you can just **** off.

Second, I've been driving for over 18 years, never had any serious problems with law enforcement, have plenty of speeding tickets, but nothing to get worked up about, so I'm certainly not trying to drive like Michael Schumacher in the Grand Prix.

Third, regardless how I drive, I do my best to stay out of other peoples way. If it's none of their business how I drive, then it's also none of my business how they drive. Anybody who intentionally obstructs another driver because "I'm not doing anything wrong", isn't being a responsible public citizen. They're being an ass, an arrogant prick, a stuck up bitch, a high and mighty self-righteous ************. That's it. No excuses, no exceptions, no justifications. Leave the law enforcement to the officers who are trained and paid to do it. Your own actions can do nothing more than create a more hazzardous situation, and THAT is true stupidity.

I would say that's how 70 % of GTA drivers drive. It's really really frustrating. Especially people who drive right next to public transit busses and never pass them, creating a giant line of cars on the left lane. Or once you try to pass them they start speeding up. If it was up to me I'd have a rocket launcher installed on my car and blow people up (no joke).

What I do is I try to cut them off and give them a good honking. I actually would love to put on a set of train horns on my car, I believe this would be very beneficial.

Have you ever checked out hornblasters.com? I've thought of it myself, but I just couldn't fit even a small one in my car, and I'd probably just get myself in trouble with it.

I get to work 2-3 x faster than some of my co-workers who live in the same area. I leave at 8, they leave at 7. PWNED. Yes he can save time, it's idiots like that causing congestion for miles.

The speed limit sets the maximum speed allowed, not the minimum. Nothing wrong with keeping a safe distance from cars in front of you. She increases your commute time a whopping 10 seconds in total? Your rant is pathetic.

[edit] looks like Jules beat me to the punch.

Naw your rant is not pathetic at all, it's 100 % valid. Don't listen to these ATOT negatives, every thread I make there is at least 1 person to convey his totally opposite opinion. I call them the cyber lawyers/detectives, gathering information from posts, keeping files on people, and then deducting the best possible answer.

NC driver's handbook:

On the other hand, driving below the posted speed limit can also be dangerous. If you must drive slower, you should still observe the minimum speed limit. At places where it is unsafe to pass, the slow driver forces other drivers to creep along behind or take unnecessary risks while trying to pass. Very slow driving is especially dangerous just after you have passed the crest of a hill or rounded a curve. Faster-moving vehicles can crash into the slower vehicle before they can slow down. For this reason, watch for slow moving vehicles such as heavy trucks or farm vehicles. If traffic is collecting behind you, it is wise to pull over to the side of the road, stop and allow the vehicles to pass.

Studies show that the vehicle moving at a speed considerably below the posted limit is much more likely to cause or be involved in a crash than the vehicle moving at a normal speed.

Of course what they really mean is the "speed of the flow of traffic" rather than "posted speed", but they can't put that in the manual. 😀

Anyone who drives below the posted speed limit is a total fuckin moron (bad weather an exception). People who pass from the right lane are total morons. People who don't change lanes to the right from the fast lane when someone is coming up fast behind them are morons. People who tailgate are morons. People who don't signal early are morons. People who don't change lanes in a descently fast/smooth manner are morons. The list goes on and on, and sadly that's how most people drive here.

My friend at my old college has a Duramax Diesel 2500HD Chevy with a 185dB train horn installed.

Pissed me the hell off when I'd walk by and he'd hit it for a good 5 seconds.

Sorry, it wasn't 125, it was 185 wowza!

although it is annoying, there is nothing wrong with driving 5 below the speed limit. and no, you will never get a ticket for that.
there is also nothing wrong with driving a a few car lengths behind another car.

in the end, i'd still get pissed behind this woman.
