i never knew that usb devices where hot-swapable. are they really or did i just get lucky installing my usb printer? (with the pc running)tia, jer
 
i said it would sound stupid. i thought firewire was the only hot swap. learn something new every day. thanx for the reply. jer
 
jer22, it's not a stupid question, but I have to say that yes, you are lucky. Depending on the USB device, sometimes, the drivers need to be installed first before the device. HP multi-function printers are known for this.
 
Anyone remember quite a ways back when Bill G. was "demo"ing USB's hot swapable support for the media. He plugged in the device and his machine blue screened. It was so funny to watch him squirm in front of the media.
