There are (huge) rats in my building. I've tried everything to get rid of them, from placing rat traps (they seem to avoid them easily) to having our buildings exterminator put poison. It's a huge problem for our part of the Bronx.

These rats can do an enormous amount of damage in one night. I can easily see them gnawing off a childs toe overnight with very little effort.

You really can't blame the parents without knowing the entire story. Rats are disgusting and very sneaky. Unless the parents were hovering over the kid without getting any sleep themselves, it may have just been an unfortunate incident.

yes you can, the parents are responsible for the infants safety...especially a 6 week old infant.

If it is that bad, move, have the baby sleep with you, give it to someone who can take care of it, etc. There is no excuse at all for things like this.

For the love of all that's holy, how do you live around that? Nasty. If you can't move somewhere non-disgusting at least buy a couple cats.

I'm pretty sure if an infant is having her toes CHEWED OFF BY A RAT, she'll scream like no other scream. Unless she's mute, they obviously ignored this.

I think for rats above a certain size, you need a bobcat, lynx, or better.

Or some sort of terrier with generations of inbred rodent-hating genetics. Like a yorkie. Might need to go bigger, though, like a pit bull. As a bonus, pit bulls tend to be really protective of small children.

I would not recommend having said pit bull and a bobcat. The two would not get along well.

Seriously, though, this is insane. Talk about a kid never having a chance.

If it wasn't for the fact that the baby was most likely screaming bloody murder I would agree with you.

Maybe - but highly unlikely.

Parent who actually cares about their child + screaming bloody murder = no sleep. Hell... parent who cares about their child + any type of crying = no sleep.

3 people [possibly 4 since they didn't say if the under-aged mother was at home or not] didn't hear the child screaming bloody murder while her toes were being chewed off? I'd say nobody was at home, were passed out from too much of the drink or drugs, or simply didn't care...

no they didn't...but these 3 retards do..

You were right. That pissed me off :^/

This chewing must have been going on for awhile, if somebody that wasn't in the house phoned in a tip.

The parents should be shot in the face at point blank range. Or at the very least, have their toes chewed off by hungry pit bulls.

Aren't you supposed to check on your child when it is crying/screaming?
