This week I learned about a new way to get fired.

One of my associates (the same asshole who complained about getting paid 25 dollars an hour) decided he was too good to watch alarms and harassed the boss about a facilities position.
There are no empty facilities positions.
He emailed our manager so many times she got fed up and sent him packing at the end of his 2nd training week.

So, yeah.
That's a thing.

If it were a government job, he'd have been promoted and moved to a different department.

Wait minute... This guy was only there for a week and a training week at that when he started harassing his boss for another position? And was getting paid $25 an hour to watch alarms?

So he gotten fired after only being two weeks on the job.

Everyone I've been, you had to work your way up after being there for awhile first.

This reminds me of one contracting job my boss and I started training at. Since he's in charge of a contracting company, my boss figured we'd been brought in to shake things up and rewrite a bunch of testing code. So he was aggressively suggesting improvements. It seemed to me they were rather unhappy with his attitude. I was also suggesting improvements, but less aggressively.

It turned out the company that had contracted us didn't really want developers writing testing code. They wanted monkeys sitting around running testing code and raising an alarm if something was broken. Nothing more! So we got kicked out after a couple of days of training.

I don't really regret not getting that gig, though. After a week of training it was going to be graveyard shift work.

Entitlement and harassment of management can get you fired? Huh. Never woulda thunk it.

The fact that someone didn't even have the common sense to think that continually asking is annoying (especially in this situation) says a lot about that person..

Just got word a spot is opening on the day shift and I applied for it.
Nights are terrible for me. Actually they're terrible for everybody, but especially me.

I used to always ask for more night shifts and loved it too but I ended up falling into a depression. It's not the nights that killed me, it's the recovery. Basically spend my days off being groggy and trying to revert back to day mode and it just caught up with me.

Now I'm on mostly days with 1 set of nights per schedule, so it's better. I still like the nights but I just know I can't work them all the time anymore. Getting old. :p

It's a catch 22 really. I also hate getting up early, so when you're on nights you can sleep in which is awesome.

Who complains about getting $25/hr? Depending on where you live, that can be a decent wage.
