Hi all,
i want to buy Corsair Hydro H115i water cooling solution for i7 7820x CPU. I want to overclock this cpu between 4.2-4.4 ghz. This Corsair H115i can keep safe 4.2 ghz for this processor, even on hot summer days?
I'm aware for another thing. It is true that it must be changed the coolant liquid periodically time to time?I never had water cooling, only on air cooling...it's my first experience
thanxs in advance

I found a cheap h115i at 50$ price, but have one problem. It has 2 pallets broken. It should be fine?Another question: for my 7820x this mount socket should be fine?i atach some ss and video .It's worth 50$ price?

No... never buy a USED AIO.
NEVER...
They have horrible wear mechanics, like coolant loss over time and bearing ware on the pump.

And i had a 7820X, 4.2ghz is not difficult for that chip as its the lower TDP range on that gen.
You should just get an Air Heat sink like a Dark Rock Pro4 or a Noctua D15 as they also come with very good fans needed for the heatsink, which is my advice although being more expensive, but better options then an AIO.

AIO's are not magically more powerful then Air Heatsinks.
And you need really big ones 120x3 (360) to see any noticable gain if any against the two heatsinks i listed up top.

Amazing how a poor initial purchase tends to cascade in a series. But I guess the important positive aspect is the OP is having fun tinkering.

No... never buy a USED AIO.
My impression is the AIO is already bought. Buy my NH-D14 sends you warm regards :)

Today I mounted Corsair H115i AIO water pump cooling with few modification because i don't have mounted kit for LGA 2066.I'm glad i found artifice

1.I have 21-24 degree in idle and in load 55-57 degree...( 57 degree is a bit high ) clocked at 4.2 ghz

2. I don't know why i need driver for H115i in device manager......device manger wanted driver.Why?

Before Corsair H115i, i had an imerse Noctua Nh15s,and with Noctua in full load i had only 48-52 degree.I don't believe my eyes...

In my knowdledge any water cooling solution is supposed to be much better than any air coling ...nevermind

You thought wrong. That's likely a downgrade.

You need the 360 version to get close to D15.
I do not understand why people think water is some magical compound able to absorb an unlimited amount of heat.

At this point i would remount the D15, a used AIO has more things which can go wrong with it like pump failure, and coolant loss.
The D15 is a sure and reliable solution.

Imagine if he'd kept the NH-D15 and spent that extra $50 on a different MB/CPU.

I still love it though. Watercooled Skylake HEDT with an R9 Fury has great old top of the line vibes. It's like me buying a 3DO now just because it was so cool and powerful when it came out and I definitely couldn't afford one back then.

yea...that's me.I prefer to drive and old premium car than a new one from novadays....
Speaking of...is my first experience with AIo water cooling and i want to say i never back to any air cooling solution in my entire life
Noctua is so ugly compared with this Corsair.....bleah

p.s i always prefer PREMIUM HEDT of any product than new entry level-mid range component from novadays
Quality of pieces overall are much better on high end motherboard even if it has 6 years than a new mid range mb.That's why i always prefer high end.For me is important quality not speed and quantity,if u catch my drift....
On high end motherboard all pieces have strong quality...for example that's why a motherboard like Asus Rampage Extreme series are the best form best in the world...but im sure u don t hear of it....

For example: Sound from this mb has incredible quality and acuracy than any other mid -range motherboard .....
nevermind...

:tearsofjoy:

That would apply if the D15S you have was a old, yet if you want to compare it in car terms.... you basically went from a 17' Tesla Model S (Noctua D15S), to a 19' Chevy Bolt.

And i think you missed me always crying for wine and cheeze on a new HEDT over at CPU and Overclocking.
I am in the same boat, i always go after HEDT, unfortunately, the last serving of HEDT for intel was a spectacular fail with the W series Xeon, and i could not source a ThreadRipper 5000 series.

Also the best X299 motherboard, albit a bit limited, but had the most over engineered features was the eVGA X299 Dark, which my 10980X is currently on.

If you want to do more with your CPU.
You want something like this:
Delidding tool
+
+
https://www.amazon.com/MG-Chemicals-Premium-Acrylic-Conformal/dp/B07B8RY7M6/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=conformal+coating&qid=1677264335&sprefix=clear+conformal+coating,aps,129&sr=8-3
(although you could also use clear acrylic nail polish here instead)
+

You could try deliding the CPU without the tool but be very careful.
The 7820X is not sealed up with Indium TIM, so deliding isn't a nightmare.
Then use conformal coating to coat the tiny resistors, this protects them incase the liquid metal starts to bleed out sideways.
Then use the double sided tape to seal back up the IHS.

You will get the most benifit this way.
There are many youtube videos on how to do this process, as delidding was a thing back then, so watch a few of them.

But when i had the 7920X and delidded that, i ran it without the IHS, and was able to get around 5.2ghz across all 12 cores with an insane voltage of 1.325 and load temps of 40C under custom water. I miss that CPU, my previous gigabyte board took it out when it decided to die a spectacular death.

My 7820x when is overclocked to 4.2- 4.4ghz is hitting over 1.9v and sometime 2.1v...i'm so scare...because 2v or above is very dangerous for an CPU
In 4000mhz i have 1.4-1.7v max:(
In 4ghz temp rise to 52-55degree in full load gaming and in 4.2 or 4.4 temp rise over 65 degree. And in my knowledge for any CPU anything over 60 degree in full load it s become unstable and is not recomanded. At 70-75c is throttling...and at 80 degree is enter under thermal protection and shut down,,,,,

This really does not sound right....
Anything over 1.5V is very dangerous for Skylake-X

Are you sure your reading the voltages correctly?

Use this software:

Use a program like Cinebench to load up your cores.

Then post a screen shot of HWmonitor with your max values.

1.5 is not safe for long term usage.

use HWmonitor not HWinfo.

But im seeing on HWInfo your peaking at 1.219Vcore @ 4.49 boost clock (single core) and 4.0 ghz effective clock (probably all cores).
Which is way different from what you were stating before.

MSI Afterburner does not monitor CPU outside diode, which is horribly inaccurate.
I would ignore MSI Afterburner.
Also the voltage listed is typically your GPU voltage, not CPU voltage.

btw,can u help me with one more dillema please?
I do not understand why even in full load,or even in stress program test ,my CPU never goes over 4000mhz?
In CPu -z the program tell me can jump to 4300mhz (x7-x43 multiplier),but never pass over 4000.Why?
On intel site, with Turbo Boost Tehnology 3.0 it can jump to 4500 mhz.I have installed turbo 3.0 tehnology,i activate in BIOS too,but I never seen this speed in any program or game or aplication, even on Cinebench23.It always stack at 4000 mhz max.
Something is wrong?
Thanks in advance

Its how boosting worked on Skylake-X.
It was 4.0ghz all threads (100% CPU Load), or 4.3ghz 8 Threads (50% load)... or 4.5ghz single core.
Meaning depending on how many cores you load up, the clock speed would cap at those frequency.

i had 16 degree on my cpu with this corsair h115i .And with NO DELID and with no good thermal paste ,like thermal grizzly kryonaut or arctic silver 5.For the moment I have Arctic MX-4 applied on my cpu, and MX-4 is a weak thermal paste..With DELID and kryonaut thermal paste i m sure i will have 10 degree on my cpu :D
