Hi all, I have a P4 Prescott 3.0ghz, 2 gig pc3200 ram and an ATI 9800 pro. I saw THIS card at newegg and wanna know if its a good product for my current system or should I just wait til I have to go new as in new system with latest mobo technology and processor. I dont want to blow 400 bux if I wont see a significant inprovement. Thanks guys.

For the most part, yes. I wish I could play D3 maxxed out tho and HL2 chokes a little when I kick in AA and AF. I just like my current system and dont plan on going PCIE of socket 775 anytime soon so if the only bottle neck is the vid card i'd rather upgrade that and have my system for at least a coupla more years.

Well then yes you will see significant improvement. As to is it worth the money, only you can decide that.

Yes you will see an improvement. However, there are much better options out there. Take a look, if you can find one, at the X800XL's. Also a 6600GT will be a small improvement. If you are looking in the $400 price range the 6800GT beats the X800Pro XL (Albeit not by too much on the XL) and the 6600's (obviously 😛).

Man, I don't know what to get. All these cards look so damn good. I guess I'll wait until some game comes along that my 9800 Pro will completely choke on.

Nothing wrong with the 9800 PRO.

It's probably the best card right now in terms of how sophisticated game graphics are and for the price.

If I had to buy a mid level card right now, the 6600 GT is slightly better... but not by much.

Other than that, you can go high end and take either a X800 XL or a 6800 GT or Ultra but be prepared to give away your first born.

Wait it out... newer cards will come out within the year and prices will drop on these other cards mentioned. My guess is that your 9800 PRO will last you 2 more good years before you will really absolutely want to upgrade.

The X800XL is actually the best card for the price right now, but it only comes in PCI-e. So your best bet is a 6800 GT, or stay with what you have.
