This is just d@mn stupid. How many times are people going to try this until they all figure out that it isn't going to work? And to make matters worse, I read in a different story that the lawyer for the family is the same one who tried to set up a $33M suit for some of the families involved in the Paducah, KY school shooting a few years ago. They lost that one when the judge tossed it out.
Violent video games DO NOT, in and of themselves, lead to violent behavior. I know plenty of people who've played violent games - GTA, MK, any & all FPS games, etc - who have yet to so much as slug somebody, much less shoot them. IMO, the parents are the ones to blame here, at least to some extent. They obviously bought a mature game for someone that it was NOT intended for, and apparently neglected to teach the kiddies to distinguish between fantasy (video games) and reality. This kind of stuff pisses me off to no end.

You do understand that the idiot teenagers aren't the ones suing, don't you? The ones filing suit are the families of the people the teenagers shot.
I'm not sure how you expect people who were murdered at random in their cars to "take responsibility for their own actions".

I dont know about you, but if my wife was shot and killed by a kid who said "hey lets go down a plink cars like in GTA" I would sue every fricken person i could including the parents of the kids who did the shooting.
Why?? because even though it would give me much satisfaction to beat them both to death, I wont go to jail. Sticking people in their wallet is the next best course of action.

I was thinking more along the lines of having to pay for the defense lawyers if you lose. That would stop this stuff dead. Companies are losing big money off of frivolous lawsuits, even if they win. When the person filing the suit realizes they have to pay upwards of half a million if they lose, they'll just say forget it.

it would cut down on the BS lawsuits that are put out. anyone read this site? its great. it deals with a bunch of stupid lawsuits.
