Considering all the crap in OT, this seem like a real (albeit kinda disturbing) medical question. It hasn't degenerated into a flame war or anything bad. The pictures are links to medical texts and have disclaimers. I don't see why it's that bad (and why someone thinks we should ban this person). I referal to a medical orientated board may be more appropriate, but sheesh, aren't you overreacting a bit?

The "cysts" are a legitimate medical CONDITION. There is no real medical "question" per se, and the thread originally started about pubic hairs. It's just not something that needs to be discussed in AT anywhere. Lock the thread and warn the OP, but not a ban just yet.

Foolish children. Why don't you ban something OFFENSIVE instead? Why does it matter that it's repulsive?

GROW UP.

Then grow up and don't click the link. You were adequately warned.

There were other adults who were helpful. What a sad world it would be if doctors were "offended" simply because they didn't like to see something. How do you think the OP feels about his own condition?

Well he's obviously not embarassed aboot it, that's for sure... Conversely, think about what a sad world it would be if we as a societal majority weren't "offended" by bestiality and rape. How do you think those horses and victims feel?

A medical condition is completely different from socially unacceptable behavior.

How would the horses know?

lol, I just meant the horses would feel exactly the same whether the societal majority was offended or not.

As for the thread in question, I would guess it was the link to the picture(s) of the medical condition that did it in, more than the content or nature of the question itself.

Links to nudity, even clinical and/or non-provocative nudity, are not met with a lot of tolerance. I speak from experience.

Very true, very true. Unfortunately, that was the only analogy I could come up with as doctors finding illnesses "offensive" kind of threw me for a loop. What point, if any, were you trying to make? I assumed it was that people being offended by things they "shouldn't" be. Feel free to enlighten me further.

If someone was truly offended by such images, they would not have clicked it. It was adequately described and emphatically warned. People just like to post reactions like "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and ""

They also love to see moderators take action, even with false justification. It's like those Islamic mobs that celebrate the stoning of a raped woman.

Isn't also odd how there are people who LOVE to biatch about how everything should be allowed, and then make an analogy to something totally outlandish and extreme when referring to their critics? JUST LIKE THE TERRORISTS WHO ATTACKED ON 9/11!!

It's a perfect analogy. Human nature shows that people like to see other people get their balls busted.

Feeding men, women, and children to lions was a popular public event in the Roman Colosseum.

Actually, its a terrible analOgy, being that it is EXAGGERATED and OVERSTATED, not to mention completely taken to an extreme. A better analogy for the situation that you are using would be someone reporting to a police officer a minor parking violation or something to that effect. Instead of widely blowing everything out of proportion, just accept the fact that the thread in question was probably inappropriate for public consumption. It wasn't necessary, wasn't funny, and sure as hell wasn't something that should have been talked about on the internet. He should have gone to a doctor, OBVIOUSLY, instead of wasting his time on the forums. To argue otherwise is stupid and futile.

If you read the thread you would have know that the dermatologist was no help. Just so you know, there are dermatologists that use this forum. It was not inappropriate. The Internet is a great resource. Your analogy assumes that there was a violation, which there was not. The OP was harrassed by giggling children.

It *was* necessary. It was not supposed to be funny. The Internet is a great information resource. It is easy to find experienced professionals, especially on this forum. For some questions, the Internet is the only possible/appropriate way to find an answer.

Are you actually saying that the ONLY source of information relating to his condition could be found on THE INTERNET? Are you completely delusional? On a tech-site forum no less! But oh wait, he posted in "off-topic," so therefore it fits... I can agree to disagree on whether or not that the thread was appropriate or inappropriate, as the mods have spoken. But to say that the man's only choice was to post on ATOT, well... That's just ridiculous.

I don't go and register for another forum each time I have an off-topic question. That's a great way to get spam. Most specialized forums are not active enough to get help in a reasonable amount of time. If that thread was not your thing, you didn't have to read it. I never read any of the car threads ("YACT") because I have absolutely no interest in cars whatsoever. Look at how many threads there are about girlfriends and relationships. Should they go to vent their frustration on dating sites with a bunch of horny teenagers? I usually don't care to read those threads either.

While I whole-heartedly agree with you about the specialized forums (just joined a tablet PC that NO ONE ever goes to), I think we're both still deviating from the original thread. The fact remains that the topic was something about the trimming of pubic hairs, and THEN he asked the question about the cysts. Also, I think we can all agree that where cars and girls are things acceptable to talk about in public, testicular cysts and the trimming of pubic hair are generally considered not to be.
