This Thing We Call Life

I think I am a believer in self mind control. By this I mean that, at least to a degree, we can control how we feel. Be it physical or mental. For example, if it is cold outside and I am not wearing much I don't really feel cold because I can think about something else or ignore it. Same thing with manual labor or running, weight lifting, etc.

Controlling the mental part is where it becomes interesting. I've convinced myself that we have.. say.. 80 years or whatever in this existence. I am not CERTAIN there is an afterlife and I am not convinced that anyone else is either. Simply put, it is a nice thought. Therefore my goal is to enjoy every bit of life I have to live. Little things use to get on my nerves, I use to regret things I did in the past, I use to worry a lot. All this has changed. I've lived this new way for about a year now, and I really believe it has changed me. I use to get depressed, use to have a lot of stress, but not much at all anymore... life is just too short.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to live as I do, just saying this to present a different look on things. I guess it boils down to what is important. To me, enjoying this life and helping others to enjoy their lives are easily the most important things.

Anyway, enjoy your life. It really is a gift, every second of it, I look at some people that don't realize just what they have been given.

Maybe someone will read this and think about it. I've enjoyed saying what was on my mind. Onward we go.

"What do I care for your suffering? Pain, even agony, is no
more than information before the senses, data fed to the
computer of the mind. The lesson is simple: you have received
the information, now act on it. Take control of the input and
you shall become master of the output."

--Chairman Sheng-ji Yang,
"Essays on Mind and Matter"

I agree with you on controlling what we feel. I do this to some effect with the cold. My friends are always amazed at how I am not wearing a coat when they are, and how I am not cold.

When you stop fighting the chaos of life and accept it, it's all good. There's no reason not to enjoy it if you learn to take it for what it is, a glimmering flash of light in the megaverse.

Yup. My favorite Turn Based game. They have some awsome quotes in there. I saved them all.

<< My mind is ignoring the cold but my body is not. It shivers by itself. >>

Your body does very little without the mind.

Something must interpret the feeling of being cold.
