This sucks

I used to run 1200 x 1000 resolution on my HP 17in CRT monitor, and I just found out today that my refresh rate is 60 and can only be 60 (the monitor doesn't support 85 at those high resolutions). The highest one it does 85 on is 1000 x 700, and going back to the days of running small resolutions is hurting my brains. I tried forcing 85 on 1200 x 1000 but my monitor crapped out on me.

Does this mean that in the games I run 1200 x 1000 I only get 60hz of refresh rate?

My birthday is in September and I don't have enough money to get a new monitor now so that's out of question. GAHH!

Screw it I can't handle the big fonts and the side-to-side scrollbars I'm going back to 1200 x 1000 I don't care how slow my monitor is anymore.

Have you tried installing the drivers for the monitor ? does display properties show "Default monitor"????

The monitor didn't come with any drivers and whatnot (remember I got it with my HP computer a while back), the display properties shows HP MX75.

Also, I don't know if it's EMI or something, but every once it a while my monitor fuzzes up for about have a second then goes back to normal. I can't think of anything in this room that would cause EMI. I pushed my monitor a little further back into the desk and it's ok for now. Oh well, better on my eyes too.

you could have made the topic "My monitor sucks" and left out the "this sucks" part.

it's not all that bad, my cousins monitor won't run anything but 60htz on 10x7
