this sucks... please help... regarding radeon 9000 MOBILE

I wanted to play one of my favorite games.. which is a pretty old outdaed game.... Team Fortress Classic.

I installed it on the dell 600m that has 32mb radeon 9000 mobile but it runs like crap

am i doing something wrong or is it the way this is supposed to be?? I get decent framerates but it's not 'smooth' which bothers the hell out of me. I know laptops aren't for gaming but TFC is a old game and i hoped this laptop would've been able to run it decently....
