Yes mods, I know it is linked to tgdaily

This link leads to a slide show of a closer look at Microsoft Office 2007 (Scott M. Fulton, III).

This is undoubtedly Microsoft's greatest accomplishment in a long time. It is reasonable to state that it is brilliant.
We will all be obtaining Office 2007 when it becomes available...start saving your quarters.

I just find it odd that anyone thinks an office app is "hot". I mean really, who goes "I have to do more documentation, sweet!".

Office 2007 has been fantastic for me. I just love it... the new layout just makes Word and Excel soooo much better.

I can't get it working in Ubuntu.. 🙁 Guess that was a waist of money.

As to this post, I hope someday MS or someone scraps the whole idea of the Office sweet being seperate from the OS.. My entire computer should be OFFICE, now windows w\Office or Unix w\Office.. I know it wouldn't have any appeal to the average home user but most Offices around the world would like it..

Wrong forum but office 2007 is pretty good.
Not sure how this is the wrong forum, but Office 2007 does look nice. I just wish I had more use of it than Outlook.

It was orignally in Hot deals forum and a mod moved it to the this forum.

Agree - what the hell can be hot about an office suite?
At best it can be moderately less of a PITA to use. But hot??

it would be pretty hot if it would write my term papers for me. that would be sweet.

Uh, people who make a living writing things? Or who make a living giving presentations? Or people who make a living crunching numbers in a spreadsheet? Or business managers looking to improve the productivity of their employees? Come on, don't make such a trollish statement.

Yes, people really do get excited about these things. And they aren't techies either.

I know some of the people who make their living doing that at the company that I work and I don't think any of them would be visibly excited about this. Sure I could see them saying "Cool, now this'll be simpler" or "Hey, that'll save me time here", but nothing even close to "Wow, Office 2007 is HOT!". And frankly most of the people I know that use MS Office at all curse it on a regular basis and would just be happy if the new versions maintained their current levels of productivity.

Can't be done to to legal reasons. The minute they propose that, Wordperfect et al sue claiming unfair monopoly. This is the same reason that they're going to have an MS antivirus program available for XP but not integrate it- Symantec et al would sue them as soon as the thought was mentioned.

It's suite, not sweet. And why? What do you hope to gain by integrating the two?

More importantly, what would THEY gain by integrating the two? They can sell a new version of Office every few years and make a lot of money. Putting it with Windows and raising the price wouldn't make sense for them because 1) Not everyone needs office, 2) Sales would go down if price were raised.

An Automatic CS Paper Generator

But back on topic, if you manually style headers one by one etc then this product may not be that exciting to you. But if you're one who actually uses a word processor the way it was meant to be used, then you'll get excited with each release.

I found it interesting how the default font isn't Times New Roman anymore.
