This rifle cartridge any good?

What is it? I've never heard of a 28.208.248.6, the problem with those darn custom cartridges is that you have to do all of your own reloads.

If you believe that there will be a supply of ammo for it in 5 or 10 years then it wouldn't be too bad. Alot of wildcats don't last too long, that and coupled with the fact that these are rimfires(no reloading if the supply does crash), I'd say you'd be better off with a 22 22mag or 22 Hornet.

Oh yea, that would have to be a light bullet. What...maybe 20-30 grains. Lighter bullets will go faster, but they bleed off speed quick, which means less downrange energy. I bet the 22 mag it's derived from can reach out and touch'em farther.....you'll just have to raise the barrel a little.

The .17 magnum Rimfire is not a wildcat. It is developed by Hornady, who makes factory ammo for it. It is a cartridge for hunting varmints, such as prarie dogs, squirels, and possibly coyote at close range. Only two factories make rifles for it Kimber and Ruger. It is faster and flatter shooting than the .22 Magnum. Supposedly a good cartridge,

Tony
