I wonder what guides it? I assume he can't be steering it in the traditional way, at least not for very long before it goes out of sight. Marked for reading later.

Gyro maybe, the same kind used for the the tail rotors of RC helicopters to automatically counteract torque. I couldn't find any detail over exactly what gear he used.

his radio sponsor is futaba. he uses a conventional, but top model, pistol grip radio with a wheel. my guess is the steering response and throw is turned waaaay down.

it seems to be powered by a dual brushless system on a common shaft, with each motor getting 14.8 vdc from 2 2s battery packs, good for 7500W!

I'd guess he had it in "R" (for Race gear).

If he had it in R, wouldn't he be goin' in reverse or somethin'. tss tss

On second thought, I think that pure downforce might be keeping it straight. At those speeds, it's going to be difficult to steer the vehicle. You can get those speeds with a high KV motor and probably a 22.2v battery pack. I almost wonder if he used a ducted fan motor (sans fan) for it. You wouldn't need a lot of torque for such a light model on a level track.
 
how the hell do you control this thing then? in a few seconds it will be out of your sight...

Saw the video, looks like more of a battery operated speed machine, rather than a "radio controlled" car.
