A friend sent this to me in an email so I put in on my webserver for viewing purposes. Is this possible? Anyone heard of such. If such doesn't exist, would it still be possible in the future to produce.

Real link. Calling for a ban is a bit extreme... guy's been a member for a year and a half. Not like he just showed up today and started posting suspicious links.

The virtual keyboard things are real, and you can get them now (but they're not that small). Search for 'virtual keyboard' or 'projection keyboard'. One problem (apparently; I don't have one) is that typing on a hard surface with no 'give' is actually painful after a while.

It will be a *while* until there are any projectors that small and bright with decent resolution, but I'm sure we will get there (or at least a lot closer) eventually. Power is a big problem for something like that, as is getting a bright enough light source to be that small. We're more likely to see really good glasses-mounted HUDs before something like that (IMO).

Put something like "projection keyboard" in the title. I was a little suspicious too. Although a ban in smileys is a little ridiculous.

I believe that device was in the Popular Science a year or two ago. It's interesting, but still not a real alternative. I can't imagine it would be very comfortable. Sensory feedback is a very important part of typing, and you definitely don't get that with a table.
