Wow, I can't imagine what the rest of that piping system looks like. I'd honestly call a plumber and an exterminator just to get opinions on what to do. Obviously the whole thing needs a good cleaning .. don't want to suffer problems down the road.
Sucks cause I busted my ass to bury the drains and that was only about a month ago. I've never heard of neighbors with this problem. My pipes must just be super elite and attractive to bugs. Thankfully I splurged some extra money and went with the stiff PVC plastic in case I ever needed the pipes cleaned out *groan*

Stick hose in rain gutter and flush them out.
I think that's what we did, but concerned about a reprise of this situation. I wonder if I should grab some of those nasty bug bags. We trapped a ton last year in them but I've heard those can attract them to the genera area, too...

Thought about a mesh. I'll do that on an interim basis. Damn wasps have been in my sh*t too, though. Time to get serious!

Emergence Day! You can only stop the Horde with your trusty chainsaw machine gun.

 That's a new one.

Gears of War video game.

Yeah I meant it's a new take on threads that get answers like "nuke from orbit", "kill it with fire", et cetera.

I'd go with the hair spray/WD-40 and a lighter route personally. Nothing like some shock and awe to show the bugs who's the boss.
