There is a strong line between going out, having fun dressing up and worshiping the devil. People who can't tell the difference are just plain stupid.. no matter what religion you are.

My wife doesn't celebrate it because of her religion, my kids therefore don't either (nor do they care). I could care less either way, i always despised Halloween, even as a child. it's a stupid tradition if you ask me, but to those who "celebrate" it, Keep On Truckin'.

Which religion is it against to celebrate or paticipate in Halloween activities?

At my church (Baptist) we don't celebrate Halloween, but they put on like a fall festival or whatever as an alternative for the family. Pretty nice.

there are many christians that think Halloween is bad due to the old ties it had with pagen holidays

these days of course its about increasing candy sales and kids having fun, but some people want to seperate themselves from halloween due to its past associations

to each his own

I'd rather celebrate the Celtic new year than follow an evil religion like Christianity.

Way to generalize an entire system of beliefs.

Just because there's some wacko offshoots that decide everything is evil, or purely insane sub-churches with cult-like tendencies, doesn't make the entire Christian religion "evil."

Just tell him you can't go to church, you have plans to meet up in the woods for some small animal sacrifices after dinner ;)

- Or say that you're afraid of the holy water.
- Bring in various satanic books and strew them about your work area.
- Get one of the DEMON shirts from here, assuming the site comes back online.

I don't like getting near holy water either - I was to a wedding once, and the thing with holy water in it had loads of dust and hair in it. It had a surface on it that you could probably rest a watch on.:disgust:

No, it's not OK to slam people for their religious beliefs. Unless they're Christians. The PC police will beat you over the head if you mention anything derogatory about Muslims, screaming at you the whole time that Islam is a peaceful religion. Then tell you when he's done beating you that Christians are all evil.

Yes and I find it highly aggrevating but I tolerate it.

As a side note, I also find it rather entertaining that a bunch of nerds hanging out on a nerd forum, that f@p over the mere thought of a girl talking them are saying that porn is part of growing up into a healthy adult. Like any of them would know what being a healthy adult is like.

Some of my fondist childhood memories where when I went out on Halloween to score some candy hehe.

He also asked me how to install a Pr0n filter on his 21 year old kids computer....Again I kept to myself but WTF!! The dude will need a manual to get laid. Talk about sheltering your kids!!

I have ranted about this guy before he tried to get me to go to his wanged out church and I said NFW!!

The next time he tries to convert me ,I am going to tell him I am Statan's Spawn ;)

your coworker is an ass. He should do a little simple historical research.

In 835, Pope Gregory IV moved the celebration for all the martyrs (later all saints) from May 13 to November 1. The night before became known as All Hallow?s Even or ?holy evening.? Eventually the name was shortened to the current Halloween. On November 2, the Church celebrates All Souls Day.
of course he sounds like a fundamentalist protestant of some far our variety so he probably considers Catholics the devils spawn anyway.

What's the difference betwen non Christians slamming Christians and Conservatives slamming Liberals? As long as you don't prevent them from praticinfg their beliefs it should be ok.

As far as I am concerned the Muslim Religion if full of more kooks than the Christian Religion and that's saying alot!

growing up, we never really did anything for halloween. not for any religious reasons, it was never really a big "holiday" in my family. Didn't miss much...

I guess the lesson here is to each their own - everybody grows up with different traditions.

It's the hypocrisy Red, and I think you can see that. The religion-haters around here constantly whine about how others "shove their religion" down other peoples throats. They're certainly entitled to that opinion, but then they go on to offer advice such as:

- Talk to him about sacrificing animals
- Giving his kids porn
- Wearing satanic clothing or reading satanic books

Apparently it's OK to shove their lack of religion down others throats. In my opinion hypocrites are more trouble than any religion in the world. At least the religious nutjobs have their convictions and generally stick to them. You never know what hypocrite believes in.

Speaking about hypocrite's and Religion....what about the rash of Child molesting perverts in the Catholic church? Isn't that priest who is leading a double life a hypocrite also?

Answer this question also....Why do religious people feel obligated to ram their religion down your throat? I mean I don't give a rat's ass what they believe in.

ALL I ASK IS THAT THEY LEAVE ME THE FVCK ALONE!

That was in reference to the 21 year old whom the father wanted the Nanneyware for.

Thats what bothers me most about this. I can understand if he doesn't want to celebrate Halloween or allow his children to, but wtf is with his actions toward the 21 year old. At 21 he should be making his own decisions, not being manipulated and controlled by his father. I feel bad for the kid, when will his father finally see he is an adult and can make his own decisions on what he wants to watch. This is how the cycle of insanity continues because the kid is going to be brainwashed into not thinking for himself. Many people his age are already married and have children of their own. When he has children of his own (assuming his dad decides to allow it) he will do the same things to his children as were done to him until something breaks the cycle.

interesting...I'm not bothered by the fact that the guy doesn't celebrate halloween. I'm more bothered by the fact that he tries to put anti-pron filters on a 21 year olds' computer! If the guy can legally drink I don't think its the fathers write to deny him the pr0n.

When I was younger I had a friend that went to a "whacked-out" church, and my family attended the same church for a short while. Any toy, movie, etc. that had anything to do with magic, special powers, or whatever was evil. Even the Care Bears were evil because of thier "Care Bear stare" hehe. One time I wanted my above-mentioned friend to hear a new CD I got, and we were over at his house. He said if secular music was played on his CD player it would "cursed" or whatever from then on. He actually wanted to hear the CD, but he said his parents wouldn't let him. And the CD wasn't "evil", explicit, or anything all, or I wouldn't even have mentioned it to him. Buncha wierdos.
