This Orange Bowl is no longer really that good

I wonder if that Stanford lineman is kicking himself for not batting down the ball instead of catching it and taking a safety.

Hypothetically speaking, if the ball had NOT been tipped and the OL caught the pass in his own endzone, then what?! Obviously, a flag would be thrown, but would the pass be 'completed' and a safety added, or incomplete pass and penalty assessed? 😕

well looks like stanford is going to win this and beamer will move to 1-19 against the top 5 all time.

Offensive penalty in the endzone is a safety. It'd be pretty hard to throw a forward pass to a lineman, though.

What the heck happens to VT defense in 2nd half? How many looooong yardage LEFT SIDE run are they going to allow ?

poor Tyrod

First game: LSU
Last : Stanford

It was a nice run though

Congrats to the Stanford Cardinal. The better team won. 🙁

Harbaugh pretty much dismissed the after game field chick interview. She looked kinda pissed.

he doesn't have time for that s

i like how he just dismissed the espn a-hole who can't wait to ask him when he's going to the nfl during the trophy ceremony. :awe:

holy fsck espn just can't shut up, quit asking. fck.

Attention:

Webster has changed the definition of the term "Self-Destruction". The definition now reads, "Virginia Tech v. Stanford, Jan 3rd 2011, Virginia Tech fails to show up for the second half and Stanford decides to get serious. The utter destruction of any possibility of a team gaining respect on the national level."

So frickin pissed right now. Great first half and then...nothing. Tyrod tried his best but the o-line sucked and Stinespring kept calling for the run which wasn't doing shit. Disappointed is probably the nicest word I can come up with right now. Guess we just wait til next year.

That's going a little far. 6 straight 10-win seasons, Tech has plenty of national respect.

It would be nice if they'd break through one of these years, though.

True. But 7 straight 10-win seasons is something to be proud of, however, for us it never translates into anything BIG. In those 7 seasons:

04 - Lost the Sugar Bowl to Auburn
05 - Won the Gator Bowl v. Louisville
06 - Lost Chick-Fil-A to Georgia
07 - Lost Orange Bowl to Kansas
08 - Won Orange Bowl v. Cincinnati
09 - Won Chick-Fil-A v. Tennessee
10 - Lost Orange Bowl to Stanford

4 losses, 3 of which in BCS games. 3 wins, 1 of which was a BCS game.

It's nice to see another 10-win season but it gets REALLY frustrating when nothing ever happens.

VT has national respect when it comes to consistently playing well year in and year out. VT has little to no respect when it comes to big games v. big opponents.

1-19 v. Top 5 opponents. 1 Win, 19 Losses. That's embarrassing.

I don't know what they're going to do, but a lot of people have been calling for the resignation/termination of our O-Coordinator in the past couple of years. I wonder what is going to have to happen to make it a reality.

*Sigh* Until next year 🙂

And unfortunately that 1 BCS win was against a good but not great Cincinnati team that was in year #2 of a 3-year run. They were bad before that and have reverted to being bad after that period. VaTech didn't even face Cincinnati in the BCS game when they were at their best (2009).

You mean when Florida destroyed them in the Sugar Bowl 51-24?

I have nothing against UConn or VA Tech, but I do not see why the orange bowl picked Stanford to play VA Tech. That just did not seem like a good match up to me. It's like hey lets make two not so good games when we could have two decently matched games.

UConn vs VA Tech and Stanford vs Oklahoma would have been great games.
