This needs to stop - cutting down trees needlessly

Last night, the low temperature was 56 degrees. Being that it's summertime, I have the furnace turned off in my house & it would take too much effort to fire it up just to take the chill off the house. So, I decided to build a nice fire in the fireplace to take the chill off. While I sat there relaxing and enjoying a nice cup of coffee (8 O'clock coffee - the Columbian roast - outstanding for the price), I heard all this noise coming from the wooded area across the road. Seems these guys were cutting down some beautiful trees with their chainsaws and cutting them up into short sections, about a foot and a half long, before picking those pieces up and tossing them into the back of a pickup truck with a loud thud. It made me sick to my stomach after seeing these things. Have we not learned from all the deforestation in Africa that it's simply not worth it? Even cutting down one tree is too many.

What's worse is that children often play in those woods. What if children are playing there when they cut down a tree?

I am confused by your post. :\

With every shovel of coal you burn you destroy the very fossils that carry the story of past life on earth. A priceless paleontological treasure going out you chimney.

I've see pics of the op cutting down an enormous and undoubtedly beautiful old tree in his front yard...

Did I miss another thread or something?

I dunno...I timbered some land a few years ago and make $50,000 off of it...in about 2 more years I should be ready to do it again.

I'd probably give it a 6/10. I'm one of those people that just marks "satisfactory" on questionnaires though...

Exactly what are people supposed to use then to burn in a fire? Plastic wood?

Thread fail.

Their supposed to burn wood that comes from
A. A lumber yard
or
B. An area they have a permit to cut (most likely not the case here)

We have a camping ground near where I live, and every so often a jackass will cut down one of the 100 year old trees. Its a shame. It is illegal to do and makes the area look like crap. Not only that, but they usually waste 99% of the wood for their stupid kegar.

I don't mind burning wood. What I mind is destroying public lands so you and your frat boys can see how manly you are. A permit to go cut down a tree, legally from a managed forest area is something like $5/$10 here in Idaho.

I went for a drive along the PCH in SoCal the other week and noticed countless oil platforms from Ventura county to San Diego county. I was sick to my stomach after seeing these things.
Sorry, if it's a bad parody, I'll lock it myself. I was trying to be subtle, but not too subtle.

lol, didn't see the other thread... I was serious for my post though. Cutting down old trees from public lands is a sad deal. I couldn't care less if a tree fell where nobody will see it 🙂 (other then the guy with the axe)
