This motherboard gives me wood

SuperSix
Power connector in a bad location and not much room for effeciant heatsink/cooling fans. Might be a problem.

My $.02

😉

LOL, right above the AGP card.. and below a CPU - what were they thinking?

The specs look good, however. 4 DDR slots, 2x FC-GPAs; nice.

what is the deal with that far left PCI slot????? its upside down and up about a 1/4 inch..... or is there a new expansion slot out that I dont know about.....

OMG, I didn't notice the power supply connector placement, that alone is enough for me to not buy this board. 🙁

Did you see the horrible FDD connector placement? Ack, all the way on the bottom of the board..

/me no longer has wood. 😀

TRD - That the new replacement for CNR/AMR/etc..

Here's the snippet (from the above linked review)

<< As for expansion slots, Iwill DVD266-R features 1 universal AGP slot, which supports AGP 2x and 4x graphics cards, 5 PCI slots and 1 ACR slot (Advanced Communication Riser), which is worth discussing in detail. This slot was first supported by the South Bridge of VIA Apollo Pro266 chipset. It is situated in the left corner of the board and resembles a standard PCI connector turned by 180 degrees. In fact, AMD introduced it as an alternative to CNR slot and provided it with a good deal of advantages. First, unlike CNR, ACR is backward compatible with AMR, i.e. it supports old AMR cards without any problems. Then, in comparison to CNR, which supports modems, HPNA, Ethernet and audio cards, ACR also enables us implement DSL and wireless network. >>

Will they ever learn ? Nobody really wanted AMR anyway so where's the use of developing it further.

How often do you guys unplug the power connector from the board? I don't think I have in a couple of years. or are you saying the power cord, when plugged in, will be in the way of swapping other stuff?

edit: OK now that I actually looked at it 🙂 who in their right mind would put the power connector there?

What's the deal with the prices on those wood enclosures? $410? LOL, for that I would want a a case made from unobtainium.
