This might be the final configuration for my new computer I'm getting this Christmas...

a lot of copanies will let you buy OEM editions of OS's if you buy a motherboard from them...that should save you some nice cash as well.

<< Well, if I get a 40GB SCSI hard drive, which is like $200-$300 more, what should I cut back on via the other components? >>

most people have a small 9gb u160 drive as boot drive and have ide drives as storage for programs and such =) 18gb is pushing it. althouhg i run a 36gb 36lzx.

I've got a total of 240GB of storage in my computer, and I only use a single 10-gig partition for booting + all of my programs. The dual-drive idea is really a great idea, but still really expensive. Wish I could trade in my 2x 30gb IBM 75GXP's for 2x 9gb Chettah 15k RPM drive & a nice SCSI RAID card.

Hmmmmm.......maybe I should get a DVD drive.....

BTW, I'm going to get a Motorola Surfboard SB4100, just don't have it listed.

<< 251 bucks for a case, I would go with an antec 840 or something cheaper. >>

i'm sorry, but lian-li is just one of those cases that you REALLY don't mind paying a little extra for!! 😀

<< How's this DVD drive? Anyone know anything about it? >>

Excellent choice, I own a 106s and it's great, plus they're inexpensive, around $50-70.
