This makes me love my SL2 even more

I can't decide what's more pimp, flames on the battery or green brake drums

I think we can all agree that each pimp element of this vehicle fights for top run on the pimp ladder, when in reality the pimptitude is greater than the sum of its parts.

Good catch, the motor was swapped in that case.
The car's an SL1, with a DOHC motor.

That being said, can't say anything good about the car 🙁

based on the rear drums, my 4 door SL2 has drums on the back and rotors on the front, it's a 96..or 97 depending on the VIN or title lol, I can't remember which

My wife loves her 2000 SL2. She bought it a year old as her first car in the US at 40.

With the manual it's really 'peppy' and good on gas. Pretty comfortable as well.

The original Saturns were designed for easy service too.

I wouldn't say I love my 96 SL2, but it's surprised me in a lot of ways. Changing the water pump is about the only thing I've done that I consider difficult, because of the limited space and because the pulley bolts like to seize up. Even replacing the clutch was fairly easy, there's just enough space to get at everything without too much heartburn. I wish the oil filter was located somewhere it wouldn't drip oil all over the subframe and I wish it didn't burn so much oil but that's about it.

I'm a little ashamed to admit, mine is the same purple color the car in the video once was as far as I can tell. I never wash it I think it looks better dirty than clean, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I bought a purple car, oh yeah that's right it was the cheapest car I could find...

If you cut a oil bottle right you can put it under that oil filter prior to removing it and watch all the oil go right into your catch pan.

I used to keep 30moons.com (Saturn had 30 moons at the time) up to date. Saturns are sort of how my wife tricked me into dating her 🙂

You knwo what, you're absolutely right. My SC2 had drums back in the day too. I forget now why turds came with rear discs, but I do remember that there's 3 different sets of ebrake cables for rear discs along the years LOL

I was actually looking trhough some old videos last night of all the projects and drag strip runs with turds over the years, was a lot of fun.

I don't understand why people keep the handicap placard hanging from the mirror when they aren't parked in a handicap spot...

It's like yelling at the top of your lungs.."HEY LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T DRIVE!!!"

Unlike those that have a friend of a friend get them one, some of the truly handicapped have a hard time getting it back out and hanging it each time.

That's a great feature, built in rust proofing. If you take a look at most S Series subframes they rust on the driver's side and the passenger side is in perfect shape. Mine is the same way, bit of rust on the driver's side, passenger side is perfect. Every oil change I smear a bit of the used oil on the right side of the subframe, not as good and the drenching the passenger side gets though. When the weather warms up the driver's side will get some POR-15, gotta keep this car going as long as I can.
