This made me sad at the grocery store last night

I stopped in to get a gallon of milk, and walked down a couple of isles. They were completely out of instant mashed potatoes, Stovetop stuffing, and frozen turkey TV dinners.

Anyone eating these things on Thanksgiving, I invite you to my house because you're obviously not doing it right.

For some people they're giving thanks just to HAVE food bro. Whether it comes from a box or the farm doesn't matter. Could be a lot worse - like having to wait in line at a soup kitchen HOPING there's a seat left for you by the time you get in.

If you're not thinking about it THIS way, you're obviously not doing it right.

I like instant potatoes. In fact, I prefer them to real mashed, but mashed potatoes aren't my favorite in general. I'd rather have whole boiled potato.

There was a time when I was a child that we had frozen TV dinners for Thanksgiving..and we were glad to have them...it was better than nothing and we weren't "doing it wrong"

Have you figured out where your wife bought thanksgiving dinner at?

Back when my pain/agoraphobia wasn't bad I used to work a couple of hours at one of the local soup kitchens preparing meals before we had our dinner. I don't really care why they are on the street, that 1% deserves a good meal too.

Stovetop is the best stuffing I've had. I've never cared for any homemade stuff I've had.

And I have been known to eat frozen tv dinners when I lived alone.

Stovetop isn't great, but it's not terrible.

We like it once in a while with chicken or pork.

For Thanksgiving though, it's home-made stuffing. My wife has been drying various kinds of breads for weeks in preparation for tomorrow's feast.

could be eating duck at Chinese restaurant

When I got out of the Army, I was poor.
I worked two jobs and took 6 units. I had zero time for anything but work, school and sleep. I lived on instant mashed potatoes. They cook quickly, add butter and pepper and they go down quickly.

If they didn't spend their money on drugs, tattoos, and iphones they could afford a nice loaf of brioche for stuffing, and actually buy a real turkey.

The people at our soup kitchen are even eating better than that 😉 I just helped drop off 500 lbs. of potatoes to them last weekend!
